“Prelude To Mountain Ghost” is about longing and caring for love.
For me, it’s important to keep that process alive. In this work, I didn’t feel like I was invanting something entirely new. Rather, I was realising that my creative process mirrors my queer identity - a continues state of “becoming” over time.
“Who am I in this moment, and what can I truly offer to the world we live in?”. For being an artist, I often ask myself, to stay engaged in change. It’s the “attempt” that matters to me, as I would rather choose curiosity over certainty.
By sharing this work, I’m trying to understand whether identity could be a fixed state or a constant search for balance? And how could we navigate ourselves in the ever-shifting social construction, especially in times when bodies are continuously being politicised and surveilled, I find it extremely urgent to hold spaces that accommodate all levels of complexities of each beings, and create experiences for personal and collective healing.
