“Since I began creating Prelude To Mountain Ghost, It never felt like that I was making something entirely new. Rather, I was reconnecting with my roots and imagining a path forward. I kept asking myself “Who am I in this moment, and what can I truly offer to the world we live in?” I think it’s important to ask these questions, to not only see the legitimate of your feeling, but to stay engaged in change. Moving my body from place to place, I faced all my fears, alone in the dance studio. Yet I also felt a sort of relief, realising that I would rather choose curiosity over certainty. It is the “attempt” that matters to me. My queerness is a constant “becoming” through time — this creative journey gives me a sense of belonging, transforming my work into meaning and purpose."
